Look Forward, Not Around
40 Things to Give Up for a Better Life
Last night I had another dream: I was on a team with friends. We were good. We worked well together. But I looked at the group next to me. They seemed to be working better together, had formed closer bonds than my team and looked “perfect.”. I felt defeated before the competition was even over.
Do you ever give up because you feel you can’t do as well as the person next to you? Perhaps you think others have closer relationships and there’s no room for you in the group? Do you run and hide because your next to someone you consider more beautiful?
Or are these my struggles alone?
Either way, last night’s dream helped me realize that when we watch how others are doing, we begin to doubt our abilities and want to give up. We tend to judge ourselves based on how we perceive others are doing.
It’s time to stop looking around and look forward.
