#23 Holding my breath
I’m discovering I need to literally and figuratively quit holding my breath.
I recently read “Breathe” by James Nester, and learned how important proper breathing is for our health, both physical and emotional. Check it out if you struggle with anxiety.
But aS important as our physical breathing is, it is just as important to give up holding our breath in another way…holding our breath for things to happen, people to change, to win the lottery.
One of my favorite prayers is the Serenity Prayer.
God, grant me the Serenity to Accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, and Wisdom to know the difference.-theologian Reinhold Niebuhr
It’s the second phrase that always gets me, the courage to change the things I have the power to change.
