Can You Be Still?

“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him”
Psalms 37:7 NIV
How hard is it for you to sit still and wait?
It’s torture for me. My knees start jiggling up and down. My hands need to move. My fingers start feeling around for knitting needles.
I can’t be still. Even if you tied my hands together, my mind would start to wander.
- What should be doing?
- What will I fix for supper?
- Do I have everything on my grocery list?
But God tells us to be still and wait patiently for him.
And so I will try… to stop and listen for His voice, slow down and notice how He is working, and whisper a prayer of thanksgiving.
Lord,
You tell us to be still and wait patiently for You.
Teach us how to separate from our frantic pace
To be.
Still.
To be.
Patient.
To be with You.
Amen.
