God Uses Our Dreams

We have a book contract!!
Have you ever had a bucket list dream come true? I’m finding it has left me in shock, unable to process it and overcome with giddiness mixed with anxiety.
Saturday morning Jeanette Levellie, my coauthor, submitted our book proposal. Two and a half hours later, we had an offer! What? Two and a half hours later on a Saturday?! It feels unreal.
Writing and publishing a book has been a dream from childhood, that and opening an arts and crafts gift shop, which I did a couple months ago! It’s as if by stepping out despite fear to pursue one dream, God fulfilled another one.
I’ve been holding on to the verse in above from Ephesians 2:10 for a few years now. It feels like suddenly God showing me the good works He has for me to do. But honestly, it’s taken months, years of work to get to this point. I’ve sat at my beat up antique table writing word after word, filling journal upon journal, never allowing another soul to read any of it. And I’ve knitted so many socks, oh so many socks, over a hundred in all. And then one day I said “You don’t need any more socks. Make something for someone else.” So I did. I knit hats, hundreds of them for charity, family and friends. Then I was encouraged to sell them. And here I am. I have an Etsy shop.
And…a book contract. God is at work in my life. It’s not at all the way I thought it should be. But it’s the way I always wished it would be. Who would have thought that dreams might be God’s purpose, the good work He planned all along?
How about you? Is God stirring up a dream in you? Will you step out despite the fear? Can you believe that a dream might be a purpose?
