““No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light. Your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy, your body also is full of darkness. See to it, then, that the light within you is not darkness. Therefore, if your whole body is full of light, and no part of it dark, it will be just as full of light as when a lamp shines its light on you.””
Luke 11:33-36 NIV
Disclaimer: These devotionals are never meant to be preachy. If they sound that way, it’s because the preaching was toward me. You are receiving a little daily glimpse into my Bible reading time. Our church calls it Life Journaling. That being said….
If the eye is the lamp to my body….
- What am I looking at?
- What are people seeing when they look in my eyes?
For me, once again I’m “looking” at too much news. And not enough information that feeds my soul. So when others see me, do the peer into sad eyes? Anxious eyes? I need to turn more toward God for my “news.”
Fill me with you peace
in the midst of depressing news.
Nudge me to turn to you
instead of my phone.Amen.
