Be Like Him

“The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.””
Luke 10:37 NIV
This verse is at the tail end of the parable of the Good Samaritan found in Luke 10:1-37.
A man lay beaten by robbers. Several people “good” people by reputation, passed by. They noticed, but didn’t stop to help. Until…a Samaritan, a person looked down on came a long. He bound the mans wounds, took him to safety and paid for his expenses.
Jesus basically said, “Be like him.”
It’s our actions that change the world, not our reputation.
And certainly not our prejudices.
Lord,
Mercy, kindness, goodness
are what you ask of us.
May we see the need
and meet it today…
no matter who we are helping.
Amen.
