The Truth: You are loved. You are Beautiful. You have a purpose.

Shouting Typed Words

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
‭‭Ephesians 4:32 NIV

We should treat each other with:

  1. Kindness
  2. Compassion
  3. Forgiveness

I look around at social media…so much anger, division and cruel words.

But when I talk with a coworker, friend, acquaintance, those I pass in the store or sit across from at meeting, my interactions are much different. I am able to be in conversations with those who have differing views and opinions in calm, kind, and careful ways.

When we interact on-line, it feels like we are conversing with some great evil, not an actual person.

But when face to face, we realize the “other” is a real person.

We see the misunderstanding in the other’s wrinkled forehead, the shoulder slump of frustration or the eye sparkle of connection.

It’s that connection we want to experience again and again.

So how about we spend more time in person, one on one, instead of shouting typed words at each other?

Lord,

Help us see each other.

Help us reach beyond our differences.

Help us find the words to bridge the chasm between us.

Amen.
