The Truth: You are loved. You are Beautiful. You have a purpose.

What’s Your Role?

“The world is in trouble.

It’s a mess.

I can’t even watch the news.”

I hear these comments and others like them nearly every day. People of various opinions bemoan the state of the world, the state of the country, and the problems in their local community.

When I hear such negative comments, my chest fills with anxiety, and I begin to feel guilty. What am I doing? What can I do? What should I do? I don’t go to school board meetings. I haven’t run for a city council position. I’m not out there fighting battles, raising issues or changing laws. I’m not even posting thought-provoking posts on my blog. What am I doing to make a difference in the world? Do I only complain and criticize?

Then I was reminded, as a member of the body of Christ, I am one part of a whole. And every member of the body has a function. One is meant to be a voice, another offer a helping hand, and another still listens to the hurting.

What is my role in making the world a better place? God has called me encourage, teach, and show others the love and beauty of Christ through my writing, handcrafted objects and good deeds.

That is my function.

What is your role in making the world better?
